In the heart of a 3.6ha park, in the heights presiding over the Búðargil area, the botanical garden boasts 6 600 exotic and 430 endemic species. The walk is very popular with Akureyri's locals, especially since the opening of the splendid Björk café in 2012, with its avant-garde architecture that incorporates glass, wood and concrete.
