Useful information

Description

Built in 1479, this was the city's first building to supply water (ground floor), as well as the first Koranic school (first floor). This type of building was common during the Ottoman period and under Mohammed Ali. In the 1930s and 1940s a second floor was added. It was completely restored after being damaged by an earthquake in 1992.
