Description

30m in height and made from pink Aswan granite, Pompey's Column was a gift from the population of Alexandria to Emperor Diocletian who, following a rebellion, decreed that the city should not be destroyed, nor its inhabitants massacred. Most of the remains found around the column are displayed in the Greco-Roman museum.
