The Michelin Guide's review
Forgotten, altered over the 13C-17C, converted into a barn, a prison, and then used as housing, the Benedictine sanctuary of Notre-Dame d'Ambronay was founded in the 9C by Saint Barnard, a knight of Charlemagne. Since 2003, it has become a venue for performance arts and provides accommodation for budding and confirmed artists... Its exceptional acoustics have also earned it the honour of playing host to an International Baroque Music Festival.
