Description

This Cistercian abbey, founded by St Louis in 1228, provides an insight into the prosperity of the main monastic orders during the Middle Ages. Having been used for several purposes in its history, including as a textile mill after the Revolution, the monastic buildings are now used by artists in residence. Visitors can admire the grounds, cloister and the Gothic refectory which is used as a venue for concerts.
