Useful information

Description

Thought to have been founded in the 8C, this church was rebuilt in 1036 by Bishop Ugone but not completed until 1253 when it was consecrated by Pope Innocent IV. Its magnificent façade is a harmonious composition of windows and decorations. St Francis, St Clare, and the future Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen were all baptised in the font to the right of the church.
