Useful information

Description

The vestiges of this site are testament to inhabitants' devotion to the divinities that protected the Nile: Khnum Temple, in honour of the guardian of the source of the Nile, dating from the Middle Kingdom and reconstructed by Nectanebo II (XXX Dynasty) and Temples of Satet, dedicated to Khnum's wife. The Nilometre, meanwhile, dates from Roman times and consists of a well with depth markings on the walls to monitor the river's level.
