Useful information

Description

Augsburg's many blacksmiths, goldsmiths, weavers and tanners once lived in Lechviertel, a district which now makes for a delightful stroll. The district's cobbled, winding streets, running alongside the Lech canals, are lined with pretty houses and dotted with restaurants and boutiques. The poet, playwright and director Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) was born in the northern part of the district. The house where he was born (the Brechthaus) is now home to a small museum dedicated to his life and works.
