Symbol and pride of the city, this fine Gothic tower was built between 1446 and 1468 on the orders of Iancu de Hunedoara and originally stood alongside the cathedral, another Gothic building, destroyed in a fire caused by lightning in 1769. From its top 40m up there are fine views over the city and surrounding mountains.
