This 11C Khmer temple can now be seen at its best following recent restoration. Built in honour of the Hindu god Shiva, Prasat Hin Wat Sa Kamphaeng Yai was converted to Theravada Buddhism in the 13C, an orthodox religion spread by some 200 000 monks in Thailand. Note the magnificent lintels of the central prang (temple spire) dominating the shrine.
