Useful information

Description

This late-17C house was bought by Viscount Bearsted, son of the founder of the Shell Company, who displays his spectacular collection of porcelain and paintings here. The masterpieces of the collection are now housed in the art gallery which displays works by Holbein, Hogarth, Guardi, Tintoretto, Bruegel the Elder and Bosch, as well as the Christ Held in Captivity by El Greco, thought to be a model of the altarpiece in Toledo Cathedral.
