Description

Occupying the fine buildings of the former Cour des Comptes (1523) and the new castle (1567), this museum showcases a varied collection, devoted to archaeology (results of digs), local history, 16-17C weapons and armoury and non-Western art. The ribbed Gothic vaults of the Trésor des Chartes room are home to art from Lorraine spanning the Middle Ages to the Renaissance (Pierre of Milan, Gérard Richier). Other exhibits include French and Flemish paintings and contemporary sculpture.
