Description

This square honours General MacAuliffe, who heroically defended Bastogne during the German counter-offensive of December 1944. There is an American tank on display next the general's bust and the last milestone from the Liberty Road, which runs from Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy to the outskirts of Bastogne, indicating the route taken by the American troops.
