Abandoned in 1924, this National Historic Site provides insight into the Mounted Police Force in the late 19C. The commanding officers' residence, the officers' quarters, stables and guardhouse have been renovated to reflect their 1880s appearance. An interpretation centre provides an account of the North West rebellion, during which the fort played a star role as regional police HQ and refuge for 500 local settlers . Children are invited to dress up in Mountie uniforms and take part in police drills.
