Useful information

Description

Built by Vauban in 1687, this gate sports a large columned pediment and unabashedly brandishes its fleur-de-lys coat of arms with a sun above it and Louis XIV's famous motto Nec pluribus impar (Not unequal to many). From the Promenade des courtines, you can see the double ring of fortifications designed by Vauban.
