This neo-Renaissance building (1881), adorned with elegant decoration reminiscent of an Italian palazzo, is the work of Martin Gropius, great-uncle of Walter Gropius, a leading figure of the Bauhaus movement. Once the home of the Museum of Decorative Arts, the building now houses major temporary exhibitions.
