Useful information

Description

This museum is dedicated to the largest group of Expressionist artists in Germany, known as the "Die Brücke" group. The Brücke was founded in Dresden in 1905 by four architectural students (Bleyl, Heckel, Kirchner and Schmidt-Rottluff) whose aim was to create an expressive form of art using distorted lines and violent colours. The group moved to Berlin in 1911, before going their separate ways. Most of the works on display here are by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Erich Heckel.
