Useful information

Description

The Biggar and Upper Clydesdale Museum, opened in 2015, charts the history of the inhabitants of the towns and countryside of Upper Clydesdale, from Prehistory to the mid 20C. The contemporary museum layout devotes as much space to the "man of Thankerton", recreated using a 4,000-year old skull, as to 19C everyday life with fascinating scenes that recreate key events, ranging from religious persecutions to the period of the Solemn Pact in 1638. Highly instructive.
