Description

The underground installations are reached via this shaft. The lift cage stops in a 30m-deep gallery and metal stairs lead to the next 60m-deep gallery. The deafening sound of the ventilation system and pneumatic drill activated by the guide, added to the narrowness of the coal face streaming with water, forcing the men to lie down to work, give a vivid picture of the terrible conditions in which the miners toiled for 8 hours without a break.
