Useful information

Description

To the north of the Plaza de Bolívar stands the Palace of Justice (1989), on the façade of which a quotation from General Santander (1792-1840) is inscribed. The late construction of the courthouse can be explained by the tumultuous history of the building. Destroyed during the Bogotázo of 1948 then rebuilt in the 1960s, the building was occupied by the guerrillas of the M-19 in 1985. This emblematic building, placed under high protection, now houses the Supreme Court and the Council of State.
