Housed in a former faculty building, the museum showcases the history of man in the Aquitaine from prehistory to the present day through extensive collections displayed over two floors. Visitors get to see the Tayrac treasure (2C BC), the Garonne Treasure (4 000 coins) and the so-called Bituriges Vivisques altar from the Gallo-Roman period, the Flamboyant Gothic rose window of the Grands Carmes Convent. Lastly, the parts consecrated in the 18C and 19C, Bordeaux's golden age, are sure to catch your eye.
