Description

Completed in 1794, this beloved 44-gun frigate is the oldest commissioned American warship afloat. She earned her nickname "Old Ironsides" during the 1812 War against the British, when enemy fire seemed to bounce off her wooden hull without causing damage. Entertaining tours, conducted by US Navy personnel, detail the intricate workings and colorful history of the massive ship.
