Description

In 1804, Marmont, general in chief of Napoleon's army of Holland, ordered the construction of a sand pyramid to occupy his troops. This was built in 27 days and crowned with a wooden obelisk, later replaced by one made of stone. The site was completed restored in the early 2000s.
