Description

In the pleasant Saumarez Park, where trees and shrubs blend with rosebeds, the Battle of Flowers takes place in August, a contest in which all the floats are decorated with flowers picked on Guernsey. The manor house that has stood within these grounds since 1721 was the residence of Admiral James de Saumarez. Today it houses an old people's home but is worth visiting for the Folklore and Costume Museum that has very vivid displays.
