The caves follow the course of an ancient underground river that filters down through the limestone subsoil of the Murge Hills. Discovered in 1938, they display an infinite variety of magnificent concretions: curtains, richly coloured stalactites and stalagmites. This grand spectacle reaches a climax at the White Cave, which glistens with calcite crystals.
