Useful information

Description

Behind the 15-16C façade of this former monastery church founded in the 13C by the Franciscans, lies the largest trompe-l'oeil décor in Europe (6,000m²/20,000ft²), painted in the 19C by three Italians. The lower room in the clock tower, the only remnant of the original church, houses the Treasure and the ivory 12C Byzantine diptych.
