Description
Akrotiri Peninsula, at the gateway to Chania, is home to a pink stone gem tucked away in an olive grove: the orthodox monastery of Agia Triada, founded in the early 17C. A porch topped with a slender bell tower precedes the vast interior courtyard, where an elegant church with a three-domed façade presides. The sober interior has a deep blue ceiling, where golden stars twinkle. A museum presents interesting portable icons from the 15C-17C.
