Description
This temple will come as something of a surprise to visitors arriving from Sukhothai or Ayutthaya who have become used to seeing chedi in the shape of a bell or crowned with a lotus bud spire. In fact, the rectangular-shaped chedi of the Wat Chet Yot, with its seven slender spires and unlike anything else in Thailand, was inspired by the Indian temple where Buddha found enlightenment. Note the splendid stucco bas-reliefs.
