With its drawbridge, its little castle flanked by towers and its quadrilateral plan, Chamerolles resembles a medieval fortress. Yet its harmonious silhouette does not feel severe. The building was designed at the start of the Renaissance to serve as the residence of the legendary Lancelot of the Lake... hence the poetry that emanates from the brick and stone walls of this pretty castle, surrounded by a moat and home to a fascinating perfume museum. A small bridge leads to the very pleasant garden.
