Useful information

Description

In 1770, the poet William Wordsworth was born in this elegant neo-Classical Georgian house built in 1745. Today, the property recaptures the mood, functions and life of the 18C, enabling visitors to easily conjure up an image of the family life of the Wordsworth family and their servants in their original setting. Some of the furniture has been recreated just as it once was. The garden descends towards the River Derwent.
