Useful information

Description

Situated in the former naval dockyard, this museum charts the evolution of fishing from ancestral traditions to the most modern techniques. Models, reconstructions and small boats depict all the different traditional and modern fishing methods (whaling, cod, tuna, sardine, herrings, etc). Visitors can also see the 1984 Commandant Garreau lifeboat or climb aboard the Hémérica (a trawler laid up in 1981), while conjuring up images of the harsh lives of the fishermen of yesteryear and today.
