Useful information

Description

Built between 1283 and 1289, Conwy Castle is a masterpiece of medieval architecture. In keeping with all the Welsh castles built by Edward I, who was on the throne from 1272 to 1307, it was supplied from the sea. Eight massive circular towers crowned with crenellations protect the castle's two wards, clinging to a rocky spur. The inner ward, home to the royal apartments, was approached by water, and the large outer ward from the town.
