Description

The cottage belonged to Hugh Miller (1802-56), a mason turned writer and geologist. This thatched cottage with crow-step gables, houses a museum containing geological specimens, documents and personal souvenirs. Nearby Cromarty Courthouse is a splendid five-bay structure dominated by an octagonal clock tower that was built in 1773 by the architect and town planner George Ross. It contains a collection of items relating to local history.
