Useful information

Description

Of its original 48 columns, now only one remains. It is the only clue as to the former splendour of the Temple of Hera. Once one of Magna Graecia's most famous temples, it fell prey to pillaging by consul Fulvius Flaccus, pirates, the Aragonese and, to cap it all, was hit by an earthquake in 1783. The Museum of Archaeology presents certain fine pieces discovered during digs.
