This open-air museum provides a comprehensive insight into traditional architecture in the Gorj region. The two-storey, sturdy stone and wood houses are surprisingly high and their wooden tile roofs are reminiscent of shepherds' hats. The oldest house, supported by carved wooden columns, dates from 1790. Most of the houses feature dirt floors, rarely wooden. The furniture, doors and windows seem to be scale models.
