Located in an isolated setting clinging to a cliff and perched over 68m/225ft above the junction of the Métabetchouane river, where the Canadian Shield meets the Saint-Jean Lake basin, this cavern commands a stunning view of the river. Deserters hiding in the cave during the Second World War claimed to have been saved by the cavern's fairy (fée). The 38m/125ft descent into the 10 000-year-old grotto is impressive, but extremely steep (sturdy shoes required; helmets provided).
