Useful information

Description

An old synagogue dating back to 1917 houses the Jewish Museum, opened in 1985 by Chaim Herzog, President of Israel and son of the first Chief Rabbi of Ireland. Objects displayed on the ground floor recount the history of the Jews in Ireland from the 11C to 20C. Upstairs, the synagogue itself has preserved all its ritual fittings. In the women's gallery rolls of the Torah and other religious artefacts are exhibited.
