Description
It is called the "Valley of the Artists" (Kunstnerdalen) on account of the large number of famous painters - such as Munch, Thaulow, Krohg, Kittelsen, Skredsvig, Tidemand and Gude - who stayed here in the late 19C and early 20C and were inspired by its serene landscapes. To experience the atmosphere that so influenced the artists, visit the houses of Christian Skredsvig and Theodor Kittelsen, who lived in the valley.
