The Michelin Guide's review
It was in this old town, seemingly of Berber origin, that elegant villas and other sumptuous buildings were erected during the Roman period; excavations are still been carried out here. Its baths, temples, villas and above all its majestic capitol, a gymnasium and the palaestra of the Petronii are well worth a visit. Some of the mosaics and statues discovered at the site can be admired in the Bardo Museum in Tunis.
