The refectory of San Salvi church is home to a particularly luminous Last Supper by Andrea del Sarto which is thought to date from the 1520s. Although the subject is one typically found in refectories ever since Leonardo da Vinci painted his famous work in Santa Maria delle Grazie, each artist gives the subject his own personal interpretation. Here, however, Del Sarto's work closely follows the descriptions in the Gospels and the painting by Leonardo.
