Useful information

Description

Built around AD 75, this was one of the most sumptuous Roman villas ever uncovered in England. Mosaic pavements were superimposed as designs were modified with the changing Roman fashions, until the 3C when the palace was destroyed by fire. Discovered in 1960, the north wing contains superb mosaics and exhibits displaying the luxurious lifestyle of the Roman elite.
