Description

The Aspromonte massif (2 000m) lies at the southernmost tip of Calabria. The face overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast drops in terraces to the shore while the slopes on the Ionian coast descend more gently down to the sea. Forests of chestnut trees, oaks, pines and beeches cover its flanks cut by deep valleys. The road leading from Melito di Porto Salvo on the coast to Gambarie runs through attractive scenery and affords countless opportunities to admire spectacular panoramas.
