Useful information

Description

Ghent University's central library (1933-40) lies in a bustling city district. It was designed by Henry van de Velde, founder of the Kunstgewerbeschule (Weimar) and forerunner of the Bauhaus movement. The 64m-tall tower has 26 storeys including a fine reception room (Belvedere) with pure lines. The Modernist building, with a simple façade, is made of concrete.
