This manor house, whose huge grounds contain the Burrell Collection, itself contains a superb collection of paintings acquired by the amateur art collector Sir William Stirling Maxwell (1818-78), a renowned specialist of the Spanish School. The two exceptional paintings by El Greco exhibited in the library are a highlight.
