Description

Once occupied by offices, this dark-brick colossus stands in the business and printing district of the city. Note the House of Chile (Chilehaus) that stretches skyward; it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, along with the rest of the area. See also Sprinkenhof, a city within a city, and Meßberghof, a complex originally owned by Albert Ballin, founder of the shipping company, HAPAG (Hamburg-America Line).
