Description

Helsingør's old town has retained a number of carefully restored timber-framed houses. Rich merchants and shipbuilders favoured the area around the harbour whereas craftsmen and sailors lived on the outskirts. Much of the old town has been pedestrianised, and visitors can now stroll along the high street, Stengade, and adjacent streets, such as Sankt Anna Gade and Strandgade, discovering picturesque alleyways and fine old houses like the 16C chemist's at n° 77 Strandgade.
