Useful information

Description

The last mine (working since 1685) closed in 1973. Visitors can see one of the 162 workers' houses built near the St Emmanuel pit from 1838 to 1853. The former offices, with a fine glass roof over the inner courtyard, various workshops where tools were made, the electric sub-station and mine shaft have retained their atmosphere of old. Bois-du-Luc is one of the mining sites of Wallonia that were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2012.
