Useful information

Description

Ssanggyesa, located 75km west of Jinju, was founded in 722 but some of the current buildings date from the 17C. The temple is less interesting in terms of its history than its surroundings. It is built on terraces, among flowers and various species of trees. The lecture pavilion was, thanks to master Jingam (774-850), the cradle of Korean Buddhist music and dance (Bompae).
