Useful information

Description

St Anne's Column (Annasäule), which stands in the middle of Maria-Theresien-Strasse, is one of the landmarks of Tyrol. It was erected in 1706 to commemorate the defence of the Tyrol during the War of the Spanish Succession (1703). Her daughter, the Virgin Mary, watches from the top of the monument, while Anne is depicted on its base, accompanied by St George, protector of the Tyrol, as well as Vigilius and Cassian, patron saints of the dioceses of Trento and Brixen (Bressanone), in Italy.
