Situated to the north of Nairobi, the Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs National Reserves were created in the 1960s and 70s. Zebras, giraffe, hippopotami, and ostriches, as well as lions, cheetahs and leopards, can all be seen in these arid landscapes, where the Ewaso Ngiro River acts as an oasis for the wildlife here.
